Energy

  • Biomasse 

      Use of wood: Wood energy is still the predominant fuel in households, ie 89.4% of the department's population.                

    • Firewood, 2021 estimate: 11,126 tons;          
    • Charcoal, 2021 estimate: 7,606 tons.
    • Potential biomass production from palm nut waste
  • Electric production : :
    • Liouesso hydroelectric plant (19.5 Mw)

     Potential electricity production : 

  • Construction of hydroelectric micro-dam (Lengoué in Ouesso); 

Communication

  •   Access to mobile networks : 4G Airtel and MTN
  •   Presence of optical fiber : SDH backbone and DWDM backbone in Ouesso, Mokeko     

Hydrography

The Department has a dense hydrographic network:

  • Sangha
  • The Ngoko-Dja;
  • The Ndoki
  • Mambili;

Agriculture

The following staple crops are in development:

  • Cocoa
  • Coffee ;
  • Oil palm tree

Subsistence agriculture is artisanal

Breeding and fishing

  • Poultry;
  • Pork ;
  • Continental fishing.

Industry

The industrial activity of wood dominates in the department:

  • Lumbering ;
  • The wood processing industry;

The department is served by two modes of transport:

  • Ground transportation:  Road axes
    • National roads
      • RN14 : Ketta (IntRN2) – Sembé ;
      • RN 14 : Sembé – Ntam ; 
    • Departmental roads : 
      • RD2 : Pikounda – Ekouomou ; 
      • RD3: Sembé (IntRN14) – Ngabla – Gabon border; 
  • River transport
    • Ngoko (sangha tributary) navigable from Ouesso Ngbala;
