Use of wood: Wood energy is still the predominant fuel in households, i.e. 79.30% of the population of the department:

Pêche
Elle est pratiquée par des artisans pêcheurs individuels dans des eaux poissonneuses( poissons et crustacés). La pratique de regroupement de pêcheurs en coopérative prend de l’importance. Le département alimente Brazzaville en crustacés. Cependant la production est encore faible.
Pisciculture :
Existence de conditions naturelles très favorables pour l’expansion de l’activité piscicole, pisciculture en pleine croissance dans les districts de Louvakou, Kimongo, Moutamba et Yaya.
